MERGING POETICS
This was a personal project where I wanted to challenge myself by using two contrasting materials, and sculpting them in a way that could offer a new perspective on how they are normally perceived.
I wanted to take two hard and unrefined materials and combine them in way that could evoke a sensation of soft and elegant sophistication. Since wood and metal are generally perceived to be materials that are hard and rigid, a key component in creating my design was finding a way to generate movement and flexibility between the two materials. Lastly, in order to create a more dynamic sense of contrast, I decided to use Wengue wood, which an exotic and luxurious dark wood, against a more commonly found bare metal sheet.
